HOW
Important: made by Meta (aka Facebook), so a Facebook account is required to operate the device.
- Pros: you can connect quickly and easily with Facebook friends.
- Cons: all your data is accessible by Facebook.
After setting up an account via the mobile Oculus app, you can browse the Oculus store to download free and/or paid apps. This includes total immersion fitness apps (Supernatural, Beat Saber), social games (Real VR Fishing, Eleven Table Tennis, VRChat) and of course, games (Angry Birds 3D, Richie’s Plank Experience, Vader Immortal – Star Wars).
It is lighter than the first-generation Quest, (17.7 ounces versus 20.1 ounces), yet still feels heavy after about an hour. The included strap was changed to a stretch-fabric, which is not as supportive as the optional additional Elite strap. The display is a singular fast-switch LCD panel with a 1832×1920 per eye resolution, which can run at a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz using 6 GB of RAM. The headset includes 3 physical interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustment at 58 mm, 63 mm and 68 mm, adjusted by physically moving the lenses into each position. The included controllers are slightly bigger, and their battery life has been increased four-fold over the controllers included with the first-generation Quest.
